Doc Martin’s Cornwall
Nestled in a valley on the North Cornwall coast is the sleepy fishing village of Port Wenn, home to Doc Martin, the grumpy TV doctor.
We know it as Port Wenn as Port Isaac, 35 minutes away.
And here’s a little known fact: our local Buttermilk Confections of Bodmin has a shop in Port Isaac that becomes Mrs Tishell’s Chemist Shop in Port Wenn!
Of course, Port Isaac has been the site of quite a few TV and film treats too:
Amy Foster is a 1997 movie based on a 1903 story by Joseph Conrad. It stars Rachel Weisz and Vincent Perez.
Saving Grace, a comedy/crime film, starring Brenda Blethyn, Craig Ferguson and Martin Clunes filmed in 2000. Grace Trevethyn’s husband leaves her in economic ruins, so together with her gardener she uses her plant-cultivation ability to grow marijuana.
Doc Martin, a comedy drama starring Martin Clunes as a grumpy doctor whose tactless manner causes mayhem. What’s not to love?
