Food and Drink in Cornwall has never been tastier! With a multitude of well known chefs taking up residence in and around North Cornwall, eating out has never been better. A culinary experience can be had to suit any taste and pocket – from taster menus to a full-on gastronomic blow out.
Out of season a bargain can found when even the most famous chefs are looking to fill their tables. Look out for lunch time offers and set menus and, of course, many top-notch chefs now own or run a pub, meaning good quality affordable grub for the masses.
Here are a few places we have right on our doorstep, starting with award winning wines:
Camel Valley Vineyard on our doorstep!
Sam Lindo UK Winemaker of the Year 2007, 2010, 2011, 2014. Sam and Bob Lindo have won many Trophies and Gold medals and a couple of their 2018 awards include: Lifetime Achievement Award for Bob Lindo at the International Wine Challenge; and the Platinum, 97 points, for 2015 Camel Valley Pinot Noir Rosé Brut at the Decanter World Wine Awards..
Accessible on foot or bike from the Camel Trail. The vinyard’s unique tours are relaxed and friendly and the location is stunning; sitting on the terrace sipping Camel Valley wine on a summer’s afternoon is magical. If a tour’s not for you, they also sell wine by the glass or half glass on the terrace throughout the day. Guided Tours take place at 2.30 pm, Monday-Friday between April to September (October/November dates may be added).
Outlaw’s Cornwall
For delicious casual dining, try Nathan Outlaw’s Mariners Pub on the slipway in Rock, just across the estuary from Padstow, where you’ll find fantastic Cornish produce and great service, welcoming and relaxed. Since 2014 we’ve had Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen in Port Isaac, that “celebrates small, original and delicious seafood plates, cooked to order and served when ready”. For more amazing seafood (on a slightly bigger budget) you could try Restaurant Nathan Outlaw in Port Isaac. 2 Michelin stars in 2017 and The Good Food Guide No 1 Restaurant in 2018!
Paul Ainsworth at No 6
With Padstow becoming another one of the UK’s most-visited destinations for food lovers, Paul Ainsworth at No. 6 (named Best Restaurant at the Food Reader Awards 2016) has carved out a niche as a friendly place which makes full use of the wealth of great local ingredients and which aims to be inclusive to all (the a la carte menu is priced competitively, and there’s a children’s menu available for family dining). Paul Ainsworth is famous for his fresh and imaginative dishes, blending fashionable ingredients and techniques with familiar, comforting touches and well-sourced fine foodstuffs. If you’re in the mood for Italian, nearby you can try Ainsworth’s Rojano’s in the Square for homely cooking in the heart of Padstow.
Fifteen Cornwall – Jamie Oliver
It’s almost worth eating here for the sea view alone, especially on summer evenings as the sun goes down and surfers catch a last wave. The second of Jamie Oliver’s restaurants for apprentice chefs continues to be a great success.
It has had a make-over with an updated interior (including an Antipasti bar for nibbles and drinks) and rebuilt kitchen centred round a charcoal-fired Josper oven. Professionals keep standards high in the Italian-inspired dishes which use Cornish ingredients. Even the pasta is made from local durum wheat. There are always superb risottos and Jamie’s wacky salads.
Breakfast and lunch are very well priced. Fifteen Corwall.
Rick Stein
And where would we be without Rick Stein? He has four restaurants in Padstow where you can try his food, The Seafood Restaurant, St Petroc’s Bistro, Rick Stein’s Café and Stein’s Fish & Chips. He also has a pub in St Merryn called The Cornish Arms and a fish and seafood restaurant in Falmouth, Rick Stein’s Fish.
Campsite Cuisine
Our shop has a selection of Cornish foods, local sausages, bacon, basic ingredients and bar-b-ques. Plus Camel Valley bubbly for a special occasion, excellent and reasonably priced wine, beer and cider. Have a feast right here!

Sharp’s Brewery has a shop at Rock.
St Austell Brewery has tours, plus the Hicks Bar, museum and brewery shop and is 25 minutes away.
