“After a nice day on the beach at Polzeath or Rock, surrounded by surfers and Sloanes, Ruthern Valley is somewhere you can escape to, hidden among the green canopy of Cornwall’s countryside. Close to Bodmin Moor, this secluded, beguiling little site is humming with wildlife, so children can have plenty of fun spotting rabbits and squirrels, and budding ornithologists can look out for woodpeckers a-pecking and hear owls a-hooting. Having said that, they’ll probably enjoy feeding the chickens just as much, too. It’s a top location, with the wild delights of Land’s End an hour or so away, and Bodmin Moor, the perfect place for stomping around with children, as you regale them with heady stories about smugglers and highwaymen, isn’t far. Or you could cycle to Padstow for a crabbing session on the quay and perhaps a slap-up portion of Mr Stein’s famous fish and chips, which is a pretty-much perfect way to while away an afternoon. Grogley Woods are close to the site and lovely for shady walks. So, at the end of a busy day, when you’ve had your fill, and more, of sun, sea and sand, what could be better than the peaceful, leafy shade of Ruthern Valley?”
You’ll find a wide range of camping and self-catering accommodation at Ruthern Valley: from grass pitches and electric hook-ups, mega pods, plain pods and wigwams to lodges or bungalows. There is something for every budget. If a holiday with a roof over your head is what you’re looking for then there is a choice from 8 timber cabins, 4 Cedar wood bungalows, 1 static holiday caravan, all fully equipped for self-catering. For the more adventurous, there are 2 mega pods, 4 wigwams or 3 camping huts (pods). The touring caravan and camping area has 26 pitches, 8 of which have electric hook-up. There is a designated campers’ shower and toilet block – with solar hot water – and laundry facilities.

“Been staying at Ruthernbridge on and off for about 30 years and still a breath of fresh air. Its a one-off these days with no pool/club house but total relaxation, its location must be the envy of most other sites in Cornwall, no traffic noise in the distance just singing birds and animal calls. It emits a friendly atmosphere as you drive in the entrance and that continues from check-in to departure. Our grown up sons have many memories of super times and still return when time allows, the current owners have made small improvements but not to its detriment, its just the small things we have come to expect these days, WILL BE BACK.”
“Lovely friendly campsite perfectly located for Camel Trail. Great wild areas for kids and a stream to cool beer in. Clean, hot showers and great shop with pop up curry night on offer too. Definitely recommend!”
“This was my third visit and I will happily return again, great value, great quality and so peaceful. we loved the chickens and pigs too!”

“My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the chalet was perfect and exactly what we needed/wanted. The site was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful.”
“My favourite campsite in Cornwall…And I’ve been to many! Recently discovered this campsite is now open all year, it’s beautiful, peaceful and exceptional value for money. Good sized individual pitches with plenty of wildlife, no traffic noise. Small, no club house, good washing and bathroom facilities, perfect for families who prefer to not go to noisy, overcrowded busy campsites, couples who are looking for a quiet break or singles who just want to get away from it all. It’s the perfect location to visit Cornwall being centrally located just a couple of miles from the A30. Friendly helpful owners, a well equipped shop with the best sausages from their own pigs, I will definitely be returning.”

“Recently returned from a 3 night stay here and we are already planning when to go back! We stayed in a log cabin which was spotless and had everything you need. The freindly owners put the heating on before we arrived so it was toasty and warm when we got in. Perfectly situated for walks in the woods and the camal trail. Other things to do, ie: Newquay zoo only 20/30 mins drive away. We will definitely be returning”
