The Camel Trail is only 5 minutes by cycle, a sixteen mile combined walking or cycling track alongside the River Camel created from the route of the Old Atlantic Coast Express — once quoted by Betjeman as
— where it is still easy to imagine steam-hauled trains slowly curving their way through the valley.
The Camel Trail is also an important link in the Cornish Way, a cycle route round Cornwall. We are just 5 level minutes away by bike.
Why not cycle to Padstow and enjoy fish and chips at Rick Stein’s takeaway fish and chip shop, or any of the other fabulous restaurants or simply browse around the many interesting gift shops in the town.
We hire a variety of bikes from the Ruthern Valley Shop. Mountain bikes, hybrids, ‘shoppers’ with a basket, and children’s. We can also steer you to good bike hire places in Wadebridge, Padstow and Bodmin.
If you’re thirsty, why not visit the internationally acclaimed Camel Valley Vineyard on the Camel Trail? It’s a short cycle/walk from us. Or if that sounds like a lot of effort… we have a few bottles of Camel Valley in the shop and you can relax on your deck with a glass and put your feet up.
